I love to share my knowledge of ceramics with others because I find it satisfying and inspiring. I have been teaching ceramics for the past 11 years at various centers, including the Memorial Art Gallery, the Genesee Pottery, Tom or Nick’s Ceramics, and Empire State College. In 2002 I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Ceramics. I exhibit my work nationally at over 20 juried fine art shows across the country and also at many fine art and craft galleries along the east coast
Carol Bell
I have worked primarily in clay for over 30 years. I consider myself a born artist and teacher. I taught at the University of Buffalo and for Empire State College during my years in Buffalo. I taught at Genesee Pottery and Tom or Nick's Ceramics over the past 10 years. I've done Artist in Residency Programs at high schools in New York where my emphasis is encouraging my students to think outside the box which brings out the creativity locked inside everyone. Throughout the year my business, Carol's Clayworks, travels to juried Arts & Crafts Shows throughout the east coast selling Happy Fish & Friends. It is a line of home accents and garden art. My fish , lizards and other critters make people smile, that's my goal. My work is sold in over 32 galleries in 16 States and the Virgin Islands. Locally my work is available at Mostly Clay in Pittsford, Art & Soul in Fairport, in Rochester.

I have always had a fascination with the past. The human experience can be reflected upon through hand made objects. By using hand made objects we create a bridge to a moment in time. As I experience a hand made objects I look for the little imperfections or "finger prints" that serve as a physical reminder of someone else. I try to recreate this effect when I make pots. I want my audience to experience me through the little breadcrumbs I leave behind. In the classes I teach, students will learn the basic skills needed to create objects using the potter's wheel as a tool. I believe in a supportive environment where students are encouraged to learn at their own pace. Together we'll develop a foundation of shapes and textures from which you can build upon. Let's learn how to walk, so that later you can dance.

I have been a professional potter since 1990. Although my formal education is in English Secondary Education – my passion is in clay. Several restaurants and coffee shops in the Rochester Area serve on my handmade wheel thrown pottery. Throughout the summer and fall I can be found at Fine Arts and Craft Festivals in the surrounding area and the Northeast. I have been teaching pottery classes in wheel throwing since 1995. I am very happy to be a part of Turk Hill Craft School.
Patrick Vitalone
I started working in clay in 2006 after my wife gave me a pottery class at this studio as a Christmas gift. I have not looked back since that first class. Mutliple classes later and nearly moving into the studio to throw as much I could, I finally got my own wheel at home and began an adventure of discovery in a hidden talent that to this day still surprises me at every turn of the wheel. The utter joy of taking a piece of earth and bringing forth from it an object is beyond anything I thought possible.
I love this process so much that I want to share it with those that are just starting out or exploring the pottery process. My focus is on the novice/beginner that has never had or has very limited wheel experience. My goal is to teach the student how to start off with the right throwing habits. I do not focus so much on how perfect your piece may or may not be, but the journey you are taking to get there and the skills you are developing. So come join a class and we will take the Creative Journey together!

I've always loved drawing and the ways in which we understand imagery. It's endlessly fascinating how readily we mentally project mountain ranges, living people, or fragrant blossoms onto a little square of paper. Clay allows me the flexibility to manipulate form and texture in a way unrivaled by any other medium. I use that quality to create three dimensional canvases for detailed drawings, and explore the intersection between actual and imagined space. Andrew Cho is artist-in-residence at Genesee Pottery in Rochester, NY. He received his Masters in Ceramics from University of Georgia.
